Can you answer this if you can play the piccolo and flute?

I'm in the 7th grade, and I play the flute pretty well at my school. I get to play in the 8th grade graduation, and my band teachersaid that he might ask a few flutes to try the piccolo, just for the graduation. I'm kind of interested, but I'm not sure. I know that the piccolo is slightly harder to play than the flute, but, what's the diffrence? What do you have to do differently with your mouth? It took me a few months to get a great sound on the flute, so how long will it take about to get a decent sound on the piccolo? Thank you!
