Is my opening suspenseful? Please criticize :D?

There is definitely suspense in your writing. However, my biggest criticism is that I think you can use bigger words and more descriptive language. I would elongate it; however, not too much because then it will just drag. Also, I would avoid some of your descriptions, like "nasty jars with UFOs" and "freaky". Other than it needing more length, since a short paragraph really doesn't do justice to the suspense you want to build, and some language enhancement, I would say that you are on a really good start, and should continue writing.
