Question about dying distressed jeans darker?

I have a pair of distressed skinny jeans that I love, but I don't love the fading down the front. The color of the denim is also a little too light for my liking, so I was going to dye them darker with navy blue RIT dye. I know it wont completely cover the fading but it'll look darker, which is fine with me. My only concern is what color will the rips be? Will they still appear white or will they be a light blue?
